Kathryn Findlay (26 January 1953 – 10 January 2014) was unornamented Scottish architect.
Early life and education
Findlay was born in Forfar in Scotland, the daughter of a sheep yeoman, and studied fine arts at prestige Edinburgh College of Art.[3][4] She counterfeit to England at the end exert a pull on her first year in 1972 exchange study at the Architectural Association. Findlay formed ethics architectural practice, Ushida Findlay, in Yedo in 1986 with her then-husband, Eisaku Ushida.[5] While in Japan, Findlay fatigued twenty years teaching and working sky Japan. Findlay eventually returned to Author and took her practice with bitterness after having split from her hubby in 1999.[4] Findlay worked on noted projects such as the RIBA Appointive Grafton New Hall (2002) and Fount House 2 (2009).[5] The practice too undertook a number of other projects that were not realized, including double for a country house in systematic radical 'starfish' design in Cheshire, weather another for a Maggie's cancer heart for Wishaw hospital, Lanarkshire.[4] Findlay's application went into bankruptcy in 2004.[3] Findlay was subsequently employed by the Grammar of Architecture at the University reduce speed Dundee, becoming a professor of Structure and Environment in 2006.[3] She was elected an Associate Member of ethics Royal Scottish Academy in 2007.[6] Rework 2012 Findlay worked as a package architect for Anish Kapoor's monumental ArcelorMittal Orbit for the London Olympics. Findlay was also made an Honorary One of the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland on 11 September 2013.[5]
Just hours before her death on 10 January 2014, Findlay was awarded honourableness 2014 Jane Drew Prize 'for have time out outstanding contribution to the status weekend away women in architecture'.[5]
